Horn of Africa Services (HOAS) is a Seattle-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering East African immigrants and refugees through culturally and linguistically tailored services. Their mission is to foster social integration, economic self-sufficiency, and community advocacy while building trust and dignity within the community.
Seattle Public Schools (SPS) is the largest public school district in Washington State, serving over 50,000 students across Seattle. With a focus on equity, academic excellence, and community engagement, SPS provides education from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in a diverse range of schools, including neighborhood schools, option schools, and specialized programs to meet the needs of all learners.
Team Read is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy and fostering leadership. By pairing young students with teen coaches, Team Read empowers students to become joyful, confident readers and equips teens with leadership skills to succeed in school, life, and beyond. Committed to equity and inclusion, Team Read focuses on addressing educational inequities and ensuring that students furthest from educational justice receive the support they need to thrive.
Tutors Impacting Public Schools (TIPS) is a non-profit organization dedicating to closing equity gaps in public school. TIPS provides facilitates training, onboarding, and placement of culturally responsive tutors in public schools across the Seattle area.
Reading Partners is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy skills among elementary school students. They recruit and train volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring sessions using structured, research-based curricula, working closely with schools to support students who are reading below grade level. Reading Partners aims to empower children with the reading skills they need to succeed academically and in life.
Solid Ground is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending poverty and dismantling racism and other oppressions that contribute to systemic inequality. Through a commitment to social justice, collaboration, and compassion, Solid Ground provides support and resources to help individuals and communities achieve stability, equity, and opportunities to thrive.
Minds Matter Seattle is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering high-achieving, low-income students by providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed in college. Through a combination of mentoring, academic instruction, and summer program opportunities, Minds Matter helps students develop the skills and confidence to navigate the college admissions process and thrive in higher education.
The Seattle Public Library is a public resource committed to supporting literacy and lifelong learning in the Seattle community. Through free tutoring programs, homework help, and access to educational materials, the library provides students and families with the tools they need to succeed academically and beyond. The library also offers programs to support early childhood literacy and digital learning.
The Math Agency is a nonprofit organization focused on closing educational gaps by improving students’ math proficiency through personalized coaching and innovative technology. Their programs have consistently driven significant academic growth, with partner schools achieving remarkable results in state standards and district assessments.
